In order to make card payments in e-stores, activate Internet shopping!

The Internet shopping option must be activated separately in case of each new card. Before you make a purchase online, make sure the store is safe.

Renewed and replaced cards that were enrolled before and are sent via post will be enrolled automatically.

  • Activating Internet shopping

    Conditions to activate Internet shopping:

    • Only MasterCard or Visa bankcards can be enrolled.
    • Card is active.
    • A supplementary card can be enrolled by account owner, If card has been issued as a supplementary card to an account of any company, Internet shopping can be activated by the representative of the company who has been granted a sufficient right to this end to use the account in the Internet Bank.
    • Holder of a supplementary card has to have an active Swedbank Internet Bank user ID and security elements.

    In order to aquire Swedbank Internet Bank user ID and security elements, one has to come to the Swedbank branch.

  • Enter the correct data

    1. Cardholder’s name
    2. Card number
    3. Expiry of the card.
    4. CVV/CVC code of the card

    *The marking on the card shows what type of card it is. “Debit” means a debit card and “Credit” means a credit card.

  • Confirming a transaction

    Before confirming a transaction, please check all the details and the amount payable.

    NB! For the sake of security, we advise you to make your Internet purchases in e-stores that have joined the MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa.

    The online stores that have joined the MasterCard SecureCode and/or Verified by Visa display the logos of the specified solutions and further verification of identity is asked via the Swedbank Internet Bank when making a payment.

    When making a purchase, you should follow the additional steps described in clause 3.

    If the online store has not joined MasterCard SecureCode and/or Verified by Visa, no further verification of identity is asked via the Swedbank Internet Bank.

    The purchase has been made and no additional steps will follow.

  • Further verification of identity via Swedbank Internet Bank

    1. After entering the card data, the summary of the purchase and a personal welcome message are displayed. Always check that the welcome message is correct. If the welcome message is wrong or missing, do not confirm the purchase transaction.
    2. Next, you should enter your Swedbank Internet Bank user ID and password. To this end, choose a suitable means of authentication (ID card, Mobile ID, PIN calculator, password card). If the authentication was successful, you will be directed back to the merchant and the purchase transaction will continue in a conventional manner.
  • Possible reasons for unsuccessful payment

    • The Internet shopping option has not been activated.
    • There are insufficient funds in the account.
    • The user limit set for the card is too low to conduct the transaction.
    • The card has expired (the expiry has been set out on the front side of the card).
    • Restrictions established by the merchant (e.g. the merchant does not accept cards of a certain type or cards issued in certain countries).

  • What should I note when shopping online?

    • Before you make a purchase online, make sure the store is safe. Every website should have information about the name and location of the company and the e-mail address and telephone number to use should you have any problems. There should also be information about deliveries and returns, the procedure for submitting complaints as well as warranty terms and conditions.
    • Use a welcome text in the Internet shopping programme that is as personalised as possible. Every time you make a purchase online, ensure that the welcome text is the same as the one you set when you signed up to the programme.
    • If you do not make any online purchases using your bankcard, we advise you to cancel or not to activate the Internet shopping option. That way no transactions can be made with your card online.

    If you only rarely make purchases online using your bankcard, we advise you to activate the Internet shopping option only for the moment of making the purchase.

  • What should I do if I enter my user ID or codes incorrectly?

    To confirm a transaction, a cardholder must enter their own Swedbank Internet Bank user ID and passwords. If a user ID or code is entered incorrectly more than maximum allowed number of tries, Swedbank blocks the user’s access to the Internet Bank.   • How can I cancel the Internet shopping option in my card?

    If necessary, you can stop the Internet shopping option by pressing the “Cancel” button in the Internet Bank.

    If your card has been issued as a supplementary card of a private person to an account of another private person, in order to activate Internet shopping you should turn to the account holder. If your card has been issued as a supplementary card to an account of any company, in order to activate Internet shopping you should turn to the representative of the company who has been granted a sufficient right to this end to use the account in the Internet Bank.

    If your bankcard gets lost or is stolen, block it immediately in the Mobile Bank or call our Client Support Centre on 6 310 310. In order to close a bankcard of a company, call us on 613 2222.

  • How do I know whether an online store has signed up to the ‘Secure Internet Shopping’ programme?

    The websites of the e-stores that have joined the MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa programmes display the logos of the specified solutions.

  • If I cancel the Internet shopping option in my card, can the merchant withdraw money from my account?

    If a separate agreement for making repeated purchases has been concluded between you and a merchant, the merchant can debit your account with the required amount.

    For example: If you have opened an account for yourself in the iTunes, Apple or Google environment, entered the card data there and concluded a separate agreement, then in the case of purchases made in this environment your account will also be debited with the corresponding amount even if your card has not been activated for Internet shopping.

  • What happens to the Internet shopping option if my card is renewed automatically or if I order a replacement card for myself?

    • If your bankcard that has been enrolled in the Internet shopping programme expires, the Internet shopping option will automatically become active upon activating the renewed card sent by post.
    • The Internet shopping option will also become active automatically upon activating a replacement card sent by post.
    • If you receive a renewed bankcard or a replacement card from a branch of Swedbank, you should activate the Internet shopping option in the Internet Bank again if you wish to make Internet purchases.
    • NB! A new bankcard other than a renewed card or a replacement card should be enrolled in the Internet shopping programme for the purpose of Internet shopping.
