Purchase insurance terms and conditions

  • Purchase insurance applies to goods purchased with credit card at stores and online.
  • It compensates expenses on repair or replacement of durable goods* in case of theft, damage or destruction even if it was done unintentionally by the card holder himself.
  • It applies to most purchases inlc. clothing, sports equipment, tech gadgets etc. for 180 days from the day of the purchase.
  • To claim you need to have purchase document or payment information.

*Durable goods are items with a lifespan of at least 3 years. The lifespan of a product is determined by the manufacturer.

Sums insured are determined for each insured item, insured event and calendar year.

(1) The interest rate applicable to the main refinancing operations of the European Central Bank (the ECB interest rate). The ECB interest rate is published in the Ametlikud Teadaanded. The default interest rate may change twice a year (on January 1 and July 1) if the ECB interest rate has changed.

(2) When paying for goods or services with the private person’s Revolving credit card, the bank shall not calculate interest as from making the transaction with the respective card until the last day (incl.) of the same month, after the aforementioned period, the bank shall begin calculating interest. Upon making a payment and withdrawing cash from the limit account, the bank shall begin calculating Interest immediately, unless the amount of the aforementioned transactions remains within the positive balance of the limit account.

(3) When paying for goods or services with the private person’s Gold Revolving credit card, the bank shall not calculate interest as from making the transaction with the respective card until the 10th calendar day (incl.) of the following month, after the aforementioned period, the bank shall begin calculating interest. Upon making a payment and withdrawing cash from the limit account, the bank shall begin calculating interest immediately, unless the amount of the aforementioned transactions remains within the positive balance of the limit account.

(4) When paying for goods or services with the Visa Platinum Credit Card, the transaction amount is subject to an up to 40-day interest-free period (between the date of purchase and the payment date). Upon making a payment and withdrawing cash from the limit account, the bank shall begin calculating interest immediately, unless the amount of the aforementioned transactions remains within the positive balance of the limit account.

(5) If the period between ordering Visa Platinum extra package and expiry of Visa Platinum card is less than one year, the Bank will debit a fee for an extra package in full amount.

(6) If upon the renewal of a credit card on the basis of an application, the credit limit of the credit card is rounded by increasing or decreasing the credit limit up to 50 € (incl.), no fee for amending the credit limit shall be charged when increasing or decreasing the credit limit.

(7) The availability of the service in a foreign country depends on the foreign bank's ATM technical possibilities and service can be used with MasterCard/Maestro cards.

(8) If the ordered service is canceled, the bank will not refund the service fee.

(9) The price is inclusive of VAT at the rate of 20%.

(10) Added to the amount of every transaction made with the card if the card transaction is in a currency other than the euro.

(11) When paying for goods or services with a Business Credit Card, the transaction amount is subject to a 30day interest-free period, after which the calculation of interest starts. When withdrawing cash or making transfers from credit card limit account, the calculation of interest starts at once, unless the amount of the aforementioned transactions remains within the positive balance of the limit account.

(12) When paying for goods or services with a Business Gold Credit Card, the transaction amount is subject to a 40day interest-free period, after which the calculation of interest starts. When withdrawing cash or making transfers from credit card limit account, the calculation of interest starts at once, unless the amount of the aforementioned transactions remains within the positive balance of the limit account.

(13) A limit of 15,000 euros per month on cash deposited in ATMs will be applied to credit cards. The fee is charged on the amount that exceeds 5 000 € per calendar month and the cash is deposited in home bank’s terminal. The service fee is client-based on the basis of calculation is a calendar month.

We want to make online shopping safer for you. That’s why the internet shopping option must be activated in case of each MasterCard and Visa cards that have been issued by Swedbank and are used to make purchases online. Read more about internet shopping.

  • You can protect your money by choosing usage limits what´s suits to you. You can set separate limits for purchase, cash and payment transactions.
  • You can also increase your limits temporarily if necessary.
  • Make sure you always know where your bank card is. If you pay by card, do not let the person serving you take it to a back room on their own.
  • If you lose your card, immediately block it in the Mobile Bank or call the Consultation Centre and ask them to close it.
  • Never send your card number by post or give it on the telephone when making a purchase.
  • Make sure you only use secure websites when buying goods or services on the Internet. Before entering you card number, find out if any of your friends has ordered anything from the website and whether there were any problems.
  • Be careful when using the ATMs of other banks. Some ATMs return your card before dispensing the money. Make sure you have your bank card and the requested amount of cash before you leave the ATM.
  • When you get your bank card, you will also receive a PIN that is known only to you.
  • Do not tell or show it to anyone.
  • Memorise it, do not write your PIN on the card or anywhere else where it can be seen by others.
  • Do not tell your PIN to anyone, not even to bank employees.
  • Try to enter your PIN so that no one else can see it.
  • If you suspect that your PIN has become known to someone else or if the bank has notified you of the need to change your PIN, you must change it immediately. You can do so at any Swedbank ATM.
